Out to Ski — Montreal’s LGBTQIA+ ski club

Out on the mountain.

Montreal’s LGBTQIA+ ski and snowboarding club, with friends from across North America and beyond. Socials in the city, carpools to the local hills, and big destination trips every winter. All abilities. Free to join.

Creating a community on the mountain

Out to Ski exists so that queer skiers and snowboarders don’t have to find each other by accident. It started last season with a group chat, and it’s still the same simple idea: people from Montreal and beyond who ski together, and who always have someone to close out the après with.

No fees, no commitment. Come to one thing, or come to everything.

All abilities

Beginner or advanced, there’s a place for you. We group by pace, so you’re always skiing with people at your level.

Community first

The skiing is the excuse. Showing up for each other is the actual point.

Visibly queer

Proud on and off the mountain. Celebrating who we are and queer culture.

The mountain’s the meeting point

Wherever you’re based, the mountain is where we all end up.

First chair to last call

Three kinds of thing, all winter. Come to one, come to all — nobody’s counting.

Socials

In the city, no skis required

Drinks, brunches, a gear swap before the season opens and winter festivals. The easiest way to meet people before you commit to a morning carpool.

Visiting the local hills

Bromont, Sutton, Orford, and weekends in Tremblant. Carpools get sorted in the group chat and someone always has a spare seat.

Chasing the snow, and the parties

Whistler Pride is the anchor — a week of skiing with thousands of other LGBTQIA+ people. We travel out and book lodging as a group so nobody has to organise it alone.

Things people ask before they sign up

How good do I need to be?

Comfortable getting down a green, and that’s about it. After that, abilities vary hugely and we group by pace, so it’s a good way to meet people at your level and get better if you want to. And if your plan is two runs and then hit the hot tub or bar, that’s a completely legitimate way to do it too.

What does it cost?

Nothing to join. Lift ticket, gas share and rentals are on you. We help coordinate the logistics so you know what you need to book.

Do I need gear?

Nope. Rent at the hill or borrow from the group.

I don’t live in Montreal.

Come anyway. Most of the group is here, but there are people scattered around, and the big trips are the point where everyone converges.

I don’t know anyone.

Nobody did at first. Start with a social in the city — no skis, no commitment, low stakes, everyone’s in the same boat.

Who’s it for?

Members of the LGBTQIA+ community of every ability, on skis or a board, plus the allies they bring.

Let’s meet
in the lift line.

Fill in the form and we’ll send you the WhatsApp invite — that’s the whole joining process.
